If you don´t want to walk (only 15-20 minutes), just take the tram 4 or 5. These trams run along streets Mannerheimintie and Aleksanterinkatu in the centre. Trams run approximately every 5 to 15 minutes depending on weekday and the time of day.
The nearest stop to Eurohostel for tram 4 is Vyökatu. Hostel is located on your left side, behind a small park, when you step out of the tram. If you arrive by tram 5, the nearest stop is Mastokatu and our hostel is located behind you on your left side when you step out of the tram.
…from the ferry terminals?
Eurohostel is located in Katajanokka (our part of the town) about 200 meters from Katajanokka Terminal (aka Viking Line terminal).
In front of the Olympia Terminal (Silja Line) take tram 3 to the centre. Get out at the 3rd stop on “Aleksanterinkatu” street and go to the other side of the street. Take tram 4 or 5 to Eurohostel.
From the West Terminal (Tallink and Eckerö Line) it is best to take tram 7 (via Central Railway Station) to Senate Square. Hop off the tram 7 there and hop on the tram 4 eastbound.
Alternatively you can take tram 6T from West Terminal to Central Railway Station. Walk up 200 meters west to “Mannerheimintie” street and take tram 4 or 5 to hostel.
…from the Helsinki International Airport?
The airport is located in Vantaa – neighboring city north of Helsinki – 21 kilometers from Helsinki city center and Eurohostel.
The easiest way to come from the airport to Eurohostel is taking a P-train (on Ring Rail Line) from the Airport Railway Station to Helsinki Central Railway Station. Travel time is approximately 30 minutes. The public transportation price for a single ticket for zones ABC is 4,10 €, it´s valid 90 minutes and you can use it also in trams from the city center to Eurohostel. For example, from the Lasipalatsi tram stop (in front of the Sokos department store) you can continue your journey to the hostel by tram 4 or 5.
Normal taxi from the airport to Eurohostel costs about 35-45 €, but you can use also an airport taxi called Yellow Line which shuttle buses run between the city centre and airport – check their rates here.
